About The Position

The Billing Specialist supports medical and pharmacy billing by reviewing information for accuracy, following guidelines, and helping resolve billing and prescription issues. This role works closely with stores, pharmacies, medical providers, and internal teams to ensure bills and prescriptions are processed correctly and on time. The training schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am to 4:30pm, and the permanent schedule is Monday – Friday, 10am to 7pm.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Accounting, Project Management, Healthcare Management, or related field OR 1 year’s experience in insurance claims, accounting, or related area.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Must be comfortable working in a temporary position for 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing medical progress notes to make sure billing and prescriptions follow required guidelines.
  • Issuing overrides to release prescriptions from stores when appropriate.
  • Answering emails and process incoming faxes related to billing and prescriptions.
  • Communicating with prescriber offices and other medical providers outside of Walmart.
  • Helping resolve billing issues by reviewing claim notes, pharmacy history, and authorization guidelines.
  • Reviewing bills for errors, missing information, or delays and taking steps to correct them.
  • Researching information in multiple systems to find accurate billing and claim details.
  • Updating systems with corrected or missing information as needed.
  • Assisting Walmart Pharmacy associates with questions or requests for prescription approval or denial.
  • Providing customer service by answering questions about billing, payment status, and prescription issues.
  • Escalating trends, repeated issues, or complex problems with team leaders or management.
