About The Position

This is a full-time, student-centered Academic Advisor position focused on supporting Packaging Undergraduate students. The advisor will guide students in course selection, degree planning, internship and co-op exploration, and career placement. They will also connect students with campus resources, maintain student interaction records, and engage with prospective students at university events. Collaboration with faculty, advisors, and staff is essential to stay updated on university policies impacting student success. The role requires occasional evening or weekend work for advising initiatives and student events. This is a fixed-term, in-person academic specialist position with an initial one-year appointment, renewable based on funding, performance, and mutual agreement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree completed by the position start date.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage undergraduate students and support their academic and personal success.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and related productivity tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Campus Solutions, Qualtrics, D2L, and data management systems that provide critical data regarding undergraduate students.
  • Commitment to supporting students through key academic transitions, including guiding those who may need to explore alternative pathways and identify majors that fit their strengths and goals.
  • Familiarity with university policies, procedures, and student information systems.
  • Knowledge of career fields related to business and STEM is preferred.
  • Desired Degree: Bachelors - Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to students on appropriate course selection, long-term academic/degree planning, internship and co-op exploration, and career placement.
  • Connect students with relevant campus resources and support services.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, confidential documentation of all student interactions.
  • Engage with prospective students and their families throughout university and college events.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty, advisors, and staff across the greater university community to stay abreast of university policies and procedures that impact student matriculation and success.
  • Work occasional evenings or weekends to support key advising initiatives and student-facing success events.
