About The Position

Thomas Eye Group is searching for a dynamic Special Testing Technician to join their dedicated team. This role plays a crucial part in supporting ophthalmology clinics by performing various patient tests using advanced ophthalmic equipment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for efficient documentation, entering patient information into databases, and interacting professionally and compassionately with patients and colleagues. Thomas Eye Group is a premier eye care provider with 50 years of experience, offering services in optometry, cataract surgery, cornea, retina, and glaucoma treatment, oculoplastics, and pediatric ophthalmology.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required
• Knowledge of EMR, MS Word, and Excel
• Ability to type 45 wpm
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multitask, detail-oriented, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable attendance and promptness
• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies

Nice To Haves

• Degree preferred
• 2-3 years of experience in an Ophthalmic Clinic preferred
• Familiarity with ophthalmic terminology preferred
• Bilingual speaking skills are a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform special testing such as Visual Field Testing, OCT, Humphrey Visual Fields, IOL Master/A-Scan, Fundus photography, topography, pachymetry, and axial length measurements.
• Efficiently document patients' test results in the EMR system.
• Administer eye drops and explain their effects to patients.
• Maintain and disinfect examination rooms and equipment.
• Assist Physicians and other Ophthalmology providers.
• Transport patients within the facility to testing rooms.
• Provide training to technicians when required.
• Stay updated with testing technologies and equipment.
