About The Position

This Special Studies Technician 1 is responsible for the technical operations of shelf life, microbial challenge, and process validation studies assigned to the position by the director, which primarily includes support for the shelf-life study program. These duties include making solutions and media, maintaining sample storage and disposal, logging samples into LIMS system, data entry, organoleptic analysis, and reporting. This technician is to assist with special microbial challenge studies and validation studies. The technician may be asked to prepare samples, make solutions, and prepare tests for Molecular Biology Department, to support team members when needed.

Nematode identification
Maintaining sample locating and preparation
Solution preparation
Laboratory equipment preparation
ELISA assays, as applicable
Department QC Shared Duties: Checking temperatures, scales, hood logbooks, and end of day checklist
Maintaining adequate stock of necessary supplies
Taking out garbage and recycling
Equipment maintenance
Maintaining clean and organized workspaces
