About The Position

Under the general direction of the Radiology Supervisor/Manager, performs imaging procedures to aid physician in diagnosis and treatments. Performs other related work as assigned. This is the advance level class within Special Studies Technologist series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Special Technologist I by the performance of two or more modalities including the ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and take initiative to complete a specific assignment. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Also, may serve as a lead among the Special Studies Technologist I.

Requirements

  • Completion of an ACR or ARRT recognized accredited program in Radiology Technology is required.
  • One year experience as Special Studies Technologist I with PHH, Inc., OR A minimum of two years of experience in performing technical work which must have included as primary responsibility of radiographic examinations and two or more of the following: mammography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computerized tomography (CT), and special procedures (including angiography).
  • Possession of valid California CRT license, Fluoroscopy Certification
  • Current BLS through AHA Only
  • ARRT required
  • Specialized training in Interventional Radiography, CT or MRI
  • Knowledge of Hospital established policies quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of The more common radiology equipment and instruments used in a hospital setting, basis radiography and at least two of the following: Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computerized Tomography, mammography, special procedures (Angiography) procedures.
  • Knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Knowledge of Processing and evaluating quality images.
  • Ability to Understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
  • Ability to Keep abreast of developments in the field of expertise.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, physicians and fellow employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Associated degree in Radiology Technology is desired.
  • Registration in CT, MRI, or Vascular Intervention preferred.
  • Venipuncture certification within six months of hire/transfer

Responsibilities

  • Performs imaging procedures to aid physician in diagnosis and treatments.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
  • Operate equipment used in Radiology and two of the following: MRI, CT Scan, Mammography and Angiography.
  • Prepare necessary reports and records.
  • Manage emergency or crisis situations; requires judgment/action which could result in undesirable patient outcomes.
  • Maintains, demonstrates and is assessed on the knowledge and skills necessary to provide for physical, psychosocial and cultural needs appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
