About The Position

The Special Services Behavior Assistant provides direct behavioral support and intervention for students who demonstrate challenging, socially inappropriate, or unsafe behaviors in the classroom. The role focuses on helping students develop self-regulation, coping strategies, and socially appropriate behaviors to support success in their current educational setting. This position primarily serves students in the special education population, while also supporting general education students as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Extensive experience working with the following populations: Developmental Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Emotional Disability
  • Understand the fundamentals of behavior management
  • Apply and implement behavior management principles with respect to specific students in a nonviolent crisis intervention and prevention approach
  • Participate in all required training as requested and any additional appropriate training
  • Maintain good attendance
  • Be punctual
  • Complete all job duties assigned
  • Dress appropriately
  • Observe measures of confidentiality

  • Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with staff

Responsibilities

  • Conduct informal assessment under the direction and supervision of Special Education Director or Principal

  • Participate in all required training as requested and any additional appropriate training
