About The Position

Central Business Solutions, Inc is seeking a Special Projects Sheet Metal Technician for a full-time position in Columbus, OH. This role involves coordinating, installing, repairing, and maintaining sheet metal and duct systems, as well as assisting with HVAC equipment assembly and installation. The technician will install hangers, supports, and related system components, perform field fabrication, and manage materials efficiently to meet project schedules and minimize waste. Key aspects of the role include inspecting work for quality and compliance, interpreting blueprints, maintaining tools and equipment, collaborating with stakeholders, and mentoring apprentices. The position also emphasizes continuous improvement, adherence to safety regulations, and maintaining a clean work area. Responsibilities include loading/unloading materials and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of experience in commercial sheet metal or HVAC field operations.
Stable employment history.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and HVAC installation practices.
Ability to fabricate offsets and fittings.
Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Ability to perform basic material takeoffs.
Experience installing HVAC equipment.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and productivity.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Valid Driver’s License.
OSHA 10 Certification.
Must provide basic hand tools.
Ability to operate heavy equipment and machinery safely.

Nice To Haves

Prior sheet metal shop experience.
Journeyman License.
Trade school education or training.
Trade School certification preferred.
Journeyman License preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect work in progress and completed installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition and ensure timely maintenance.
Collaborate effectively with general contractors, owners, customers, and project stakeholders.
Mentor and support apprentices and laborers by promoting productivity, quality workmanship, and skill development.
Foster continuous improvement in work processes, procedures, and team performance.
Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Load and unload materials, equipment, and deliveries at job sites.
Perform other duties as assigned.
