About The Position

This role involves all types of sheet metal work, requiring individuals to read and understand blueprints, communicate effectively with project personnel including subcontractors, and represent TP Mechanical Contractors professionally. The position focuses on the installation, repair, and fabrication of sheet metal and duct systems, as well as assisting with HVAC equipment assembly and installation. It also includes managing materials, ensuring quality control, maintaining equipment, and mentoring apprentices. Safety and adherence to company standards are paramount.

Requirements

  • 1+ year light commercial experience in sheet metal/HVAC field operations.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of general sheet metal and HVAC installation.
  • Ability to fabricate offsets.
  • Working knowledge of all hand and power tools.
  • Able to do basic take-offs.
  • Able to install equipment.
  • Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy and productivity.
  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must provide their own basic hand tools.
  • Able to operate heavy machinery.
  • OSHA 10 certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior shop experience a plus.
  • Stable work history.
  • Journeyman License a plus.
  • Trade School a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, install and/or repair sheet metal and/or duct systems.
  • Assist with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment as necessary.
  • Install hangars or supports for system.
  • Perform field fabrication of sheet metal and/or duct systems and set up the specific task or project schedule.
  • Make adjustments to work sequences to meet construction schedules.
  • Manage materials to ensure timely completion of the work scheduled.
  • Ensure optimal material consumption.
  • Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contract and specification.
  • Read blueprints and interpret specifications.
  • Keep equipment in good working order and ensure proper and timely maintenance is performed on equipment.
  • Ensure the needs of general contractors, owners, and other customers as well as entrusted employees are met.
  • Serve as a coach by monitoring and mentoring Apprentices and laborers with production and quality workmanship.
  • Strengthen skills to encourage improvement in other sheet metal workers.
  • Emphasize commitment to continually improve company procedures and processes in the best interests of the company.
  • Follow all OSHA and TPMC standards for safety.
  • Keep work area clear of unnecessary clutter and perform routine clean-up as needed.
  • Offload deliveries and load trucks at job sites.
  • All other duties as assigned.
