About The Position

The Special Projects Manager, Technical Operations will support deployment, operations, installations and maintenance of a fiber optic network for residential and business customers throughout Southern California metro. This position will report to the Head of Metro Technical Operations and flex within a market to meet the needs of the business, plugging into areas where needs are critical, and then rapidly moving onto new areas of need as the business evolves. This role requires a passion for being on-the-ground, executing complex projects that improve internet access, speed, and service in your community. It will require substantial knowledge of our industry and willingness to learn much more. A versatile skill set, a flexible approach, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges as the role evolves and changes is critical. In this role, you’ll: Support the deployment and operation of GFiber’s FTTH build in a metropolitan area. Assist the Head of Metro Technical Operations in leading all Deployment and Operational team members within a metropolitan area. Ensure alignment between various parts of the customer network deployment from design all the way to service delivery. Ensure the best local network is designed, built, and maintained with speed and within business goals. Work with city management to ensure business targets are met. Coordinate with city officials, jurisdictional authorities and utility representatives. Lead and manage GIS, network planning, engineering design cycles, permitting, proposals, bids, scope definitions and approvals for FTTH to Single Family Units (SFUs), Multi Dwelling Units (MDUs), Single Business Units (SBUs)

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of experience with fiber network deployments, outside and inside plant fiber infrastructure.
5 years of experience leading teams and vendor management.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting costs, project reporting, capacity planning, quality assurance, equipment turn-up, testing and acceptance.

Nice To Haves

MBA or Master's degree in Technology.
7 years of relevant industry experience
Experience developing requests for proposals (RFPs), scheduling projects, cost engineering, budgeting and forecasting costs, reporting project status and costs, procurement and consulting with contractors and vendors.
Knowledge of inside and outside plant fiber optic network infrastructure, and engineering design and construction.
Knowledge of network drawings, route maps and scopes of work, interpreting fiber test results and auditing projects for compliance with scopes of work.
Experience in operational improvement, process/workflow development, and managing complex cross-functional projects.
Experience with GIS, CAD, and interpreting complex fiber test results.
