About The Position

The Special Projects in Aging position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of their assigned service programs. This includes coordination of services, evaluating program metrics, administrative tasks, and outreach. The position will be working with the Older Relative Caregiver and Grandparent program.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of social work programs and processes.
  • Knowledge of community resources and support network available to clientele served.
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to relate to the elderly and their unique problems.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate office equipment including telephone, copy machine, fax machine, computer, and calculator.
  • Knowledge and ability to do basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to read and interpret guidelines and regulations and apply them to the job.
  • A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with budgeting preferred.
  • At least one (1) year of work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning, organizing, and monitoring of the assigned Program services to ensure that funds expended are allowable and ensure supporting documentation for the programs are on file.
  • Maintains a Program experience that attracts participation of seniors daily by delivering the minimum core services.
  • Plans and implements participant events such as activities and informational sessions, assists with creation of event calendar, and assists with leading the event as needed.
  • Communicates weekly with program staff to ensure that they are adhering to guidelines and to address concerns and complaints received by participants.
  • Conducts evaluations of programs to determine the effectiveness for improving health and well-being or reducing disease, disability, and/or injury among older adults.
  • Creates new programs that may be in the best interest of seniors and the Department. Helps with training, organizing, designing, and setup of new programs. Networks with community partners for donations of products and services to support new programs.
  • Trains and provides program information to staff, volunteers, service agencies, and other personnel to assure that program guidelines are followed.
  • Serve as backup to the Program Coordinator when needed.
