About The Position

Maintain the fiscal records for all special programs and grants. File necessary financial reports as required by the granting agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting OR Bachelor’s in management, finance, or business – with at least 24 hours of accounting
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and recommend improved procedures
  • Working knowledge of data processing systems and financial applications
  • Knowledge of state school fiscal policies
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
  • Advanced Excel and Word skills to analyze data and produce required reports
  • Basic knowledge of school law, curriculum and instruction
  • Three years of successful experience as an accountant or prior experience in school business accounting

Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial accounting for special programs and grants.
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and maintain financial records for special programs according to governmental accounting principles and district procedures.
  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, consolidated statements, expenditure reports and other statements and reports as required by granting agencies.
  • Monitor and reconcile expenditures with budget availability.
  • Prepare audit schedules for federal grants.
  • Perform cost accounting activities, bank reconciliation, or accounting for grant expenditures.
  • Work with administrators, principals, directors, and staff regarding budget and accounting issues and financial information.
  • Assist the general ledger and payroll officers with grant questions and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all local policies and state and federal statutes including the Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
