The Special Program Aid (Nurse Practitioner) under general direction, provides patient care, evaluations, and treatment. Diagnoses, treats, and prescribes certain medications for illnesses and injuries. This position will provide comprehensive women’s health services, including performing Pap smears, conducting reproductive and sexual health assessments, diagnosing and managing gynecologic conditions, and delivering patient-centered education on contraception, STI prevention, and overall sexual wellness. It will also provide sexual health education and comprehensive STI screening and testing, including risk assessment, diagnostic evaluation, treatment, and patient counseling on prevention and safe practices. In an emergency, will provide care to stabilize or prevent deterioration of a patient’s condition and immediately thereafter notify the supervising physician. Immediate physician consultation or referral for acute health problems of complex nature identified by NP. Monthly quality assurance review with supervising physician to discuss information related to patient care and treatment, changes in patient care plans, issues related to referrals, and discussion of patient care improvements.
