About The Position
Applies technical knowledge and practical welding skills to support component installation, fit-up, alignment, and welding. The role requires familiarity with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) equipment, welding preparation and cleanup tools, and weld acceptance criteria. The welder performs frontline examination of completed welding work and adheres to all safety procedures.
Requirements
- Possess the skill sets necessary to pass the pre-employment welding examination.
- Apply technical knowledge and practical welding skills.
- Be familiar with equipment required for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).
- Be familiar with weld acceptance criteria.
Responsibilities
- Assist with component installation, fit-up, and alignment.
- Verify the position of metal components in assemblies using a straight edge, combination square, calipers, and rule.
- Prepare welding work and clean up using conventional tools such as grinders, buffers, files, and chipping hammers.
- Tack-weld components to secure them in position for welding.
- Perform frontline examination of welding work using weld acceptance criteria.
- Adhere to all safety procedures.
