About The Position

The Combination Welder Journey applies technical knowledge and practical welding skills to install, fit, align, and weld metal components. The role uses Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) equipment, conventional preparation and cleanup tools, and measuring tools to position components and complete welding work. The welder performs frontline examinations of completed work against weld acceptance criteria and follows all safety procedures.

Requirements

• Possess the necessary skill sets to pass the pre-employment welding examination.
• Apply technical knowledge and practical welding skills.
• Be familiar with equipment required for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes.
• Be familiar with weld acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Assist with component installation, fit-up, and alignment.
• Verify the position of metal components in an assembly using a straight edge, combination square, calipers, and rule.
• Prepare components for welding and clean up using conventional tools such as grinders, buffers, files, and chipping hammers.
• Tack-weld components to secure them in position for welding.
• Perform frontline examination of welding work against weld acceptance criteria.
• Adhere to all safety procedures.
