About The Position

The Gill Corporation is a leading manufacturer of honeycomb, high-performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners, and original equipment for aircraft. The company also specializes in reinforced plastics, including interior sandwich panels for aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core, and related products. The Special Process Production Specialist is a key member of the work cell team, contributing to quality and productivity targets. This role collaborates with the work cell and Material Replenishment Coordinator, overseeing all aspects of part processing except for CNC and inspection. The specialist will work with Operations Engineering and quality representatives to drive continuous improvement, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and participate in change management. This position holds full accountability for non-metallic parts from material issuance to inventory receipt, excluding CNC and inspection.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalency.
  • 6 months of experience as a fabrication assembler, or one year of related experience, and/or sufficient training.
  • Ability to understand product drawings.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions.
  • Basic PC skills.
  • English reading and verbal communication skills sufficient to read, understand, and communicate company operating procedures and policies.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrate math proficiency equal to or greater than required for the position.
  • Must be available to work the specified shift and be flexible for potential overtime on weekends/holidays.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) to comply with ITAR/EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture parts to customer specifications using work orders, sketches, drawings, and process sheets.
  • Read and understand material safety data sheets.
  • Stabilize core, layout, planform (using templates and mylars), dry fit, layup, splice, and bond per established procedures.
  • Operate saws, sealers, and ovens.
  • Perform routine operator-level preventative maintenance.
  • Organize, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, product, and supplies to ensure high standards of cleanliness.
  • Verify work to ensure it meets required specifications before moving to the next operation.
  • Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tapes, scales, and protractors).
  • Work with fiberglass prepreg and epoxy adhesives.
  • Prepare, set up, start daily operations, and manufacture parts to customer specifications under supervisor/lead operator direction.
  • Understand daily requirements and assist the work cell in achieving daily targets.
  • Assist in the cross-training of operators as needed.
  • Address issues found by final inspection and collaborate with the work cell team to reduce reoccurrence.
  • Ensure lean manufacturing concepts are followed and actively drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other various tasks as required.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
