About The Position

Under the direction of a radiologist, performs Special Procedure examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis and image guided treatment. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

Requirements

  • Licensed by the State of New York
  • GED
  • 1-3 years Required
  • Special Procedure/Angiographic Systems
  • Radiographic exposure equipment.
  • PACS - G.E. Centricity
  • RIS-IC tracking equipment and other computer data base managers.
  • ARRT
  • Registered Radiologic Technologist - Injection
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in and meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT.
  • Licensed by the State of New York.

Responsibilities

  • Entering patient data into RIS and other appropriate computer systems as necessary.
  • Placing the patient on the procedure table in the correct position for the procedure to be performed.
  • Obtain appropriate scout film for procedure.
  • Appropriate positioning of monitors, foot switches, table controls and lighting for procedure to be performed.
  • Setting of exposures factors and imaging equipment to obtain high quality images for diagnosis by the radiologist.
  • Assisting at the side of the interventional radiologist handling sterile equipment as needed.
  • Constant attention to the progression of the procedure while in the control room, monitoring exposure factors, fluoro time, etc.
  • Operating injector when necessary.
  • Tracking exams in RIS- IC throughout all steps in the process.
  • Verifying images in PACS to ensure the patient, exam type, labeling and orientation are correct.
  • Photographing and labeling digital images, processing and displaying final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintain all necessary records of films, fluoro time, injections, etc.
  • Observe all rules and regulations regarding patient identification and radiation safety for patients and staff.
  • Train other associates and students in special procedures.
  • Maintain orderliness, cleanliness of assigned area, aseptic technique as well maintain sterile field.
  • Perform duties of a 4T technologist as needed.
  • Perform other related assigned tasks
