About The Position

The Special Procedures Tech takes radiologic films of the body using specialized or complicated procedures to assist in diagnosing diseases and injuries. The technologist assists physicians during invasive radiological procedures. Senior technologists also serve as preceptors, mentors, and resources to staff and assist management with supervisory responsibilities. The schedule is 6:45 a.m.–5:15 p.m., with 9–11 call days per six-week schedule. Scrub experience is needed.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
Current or temporary license from the Texas Medical Board (MRT).
Registered Radiology Technologist credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R).
Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others to perform job functions.
Scrub experience.

Responsibilities

Perform special and invasive radiology procedures while following radiation safety procedures.
Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, administer contrast when necessary, position patients, select imaging techniques, and ensure technical quality of images.
Enter and monitor patient data.
Perform quality assurance on radiology equipment and may assist with initial and renewal applications for ACR and other accreditation.
Identify and report accidents, complaints, and equipment malfunctions to department management.
Take emergency call within the department.
Provide safe care to patients, staff, and visitors while following Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, including budgetary specifications for time management, supply management, productivity, and service quality.
Meet mandatory and continuing education and skills competency requirements; support department goals; and serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
Create compassionate and personalized experiences and model Memorial Hermann’s service standards for patients and colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
