Determines the patient's x-ray needs by reading requests or instructions from the physicians. Assists the physicians or other Rad Techs in the performance of more complex procedures. Positions the patient on the examining table and sets up and adjust equipment to obtain an optimum view of a specific body area as requested by the physician. Explain procedures to the patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation. Collect and maintain records of patients examined, examinations performed and patient medical histories, views taken and technical factors used. Prepares and sets up the x-ray room for the patient. Assures that sterile and non-sterile supplies are present and in working order. Positions the x-ray equipment and adjusts the controls to set exposure factors, such as time and distance. Completes quality control activities, monitors equipment operation, and reports equipment issues to the manager. Coordinate the work of other Rad Techs when procedures require more than one person. Performs general administrative tasks such as answering telephones, scheduling patients, or pulling films.
