About The Position

The Special Loans Specialist I supports the Special Loans Department with efficient and timely completion of departmental tasks and goals. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of working under pressure on a variety of tasks, including research and resolution of escalated/priority requests and project tasks. The Special Loans and Servicing Operations Department handles complex non-fixed rate loan products such as adjustable-rate mortgages (ARMs), Commercial Loans, Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs), Daily Simple Interest (DSI) loans, Balloon loans, and modifications, SCRA.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • 0-2 years’ experience in the mortgage industry.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage documents, security instruments, and modification documents.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have smart phones that meet Company security standards with the ability to install apps such as Microsoft Authenticator.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Research servicing histories and setup of ARM, DSI, and modified loans.
  • Collect supporting documentation and assist in preparing audit responses.
  • Analyze exception reports and clear exceptions by researching and adjusting loans as necessary.
  • Monitor the status of ARM loans and assist in resolving servicing transfer/loan setup.
  • Research ARM loan payment histories.
  • Audit ARM Change Notifications prior to mailing.
  • Perform document to data reviews to ensure proper servicing of various loan types and adherence to investor and regulatory guidelines.
  • Review and process modification requests.
  • Conduct special projects as assigned by Special Loans management.
  • Calculate loan amortizations to correct posting errors.
  • Update loans through adjustments and payment reapplications to reflect proper accounting.
  • Support management in achieving goals and improving department efficiency/productivity.
  • Complete miscellaneous tasks as necessary or required.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management.
