About The Position

KS Engineers, P.C. (KSE) is a mid-size engineering and construction management firm ranking in the ENR Top 500 for design and ENR Top 100 for construction management. The firm provides engineering, construction management, and land surveying services to both public and private sector clients.

Requirements

  • 1 year in inspecting construction work in the city of NY OR NJ, varied in size and complexity.
  • Detail Oriented
  • Familiarity with concrete sampling and testing as per requirements of ACI 318 & section 1704.4 of the NYC building code.
  • ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician Grade 1.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 or OSHA 10 Preferred
  • Willing to pursue professional development, training, and licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Duties can include travelling to various project sites daily, monitoring construction operations, and using applicable field-testing procedures and equipment to perform required field inspections and testing, as well as all related testing as required by the project and client to determine conformance with project plans and specifications.
  • Preparation of daily field reports, communication of deficiencies observed in the field to project managers, contractors, and /or client representatives, and the interpretation of project – related drawings and documents.
  • Possesses strong supervisory and technical skills, effective time-management skills, strong computer skills, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow project specifications.
  • Possesses a thorough knowledge of construction processes.
  • Responsive to Client and other KSE Manager/ needs, and all other duties as assigned.
  • Handle, inspect, and /or feel materials and/or equipment relevant to the job.
  • Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using company email and telephone systems.
  • Move around on the jobsite, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself appropriately to assess necessary testing materials and equipment, usually for prolonged periods of time.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50lbs for some types of monitoring and inspections
  • This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections
  • Ability to work in diverse weather conditions
  • Extended periods of standing and walking possibly on uneven or challenging terrains
