About The Position

As Special Events & Strategic Partnerships Manager, you will be the steward of Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s most iconic traditions while driving the evolution of our signature experiences. Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, you will lead the planning, promotion, execution, and continuous enhancement of hallmark events such as Easter, Summer Camp, Celebrate, Festive, and other memorable guest experiences. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance legacy and innovation - developing exceptional events, cultivating impactful partnerships, and creating experiences that strengthen our luxury positioning, drive revenue, and deepen engagement with guests, partners, and the Whistler community.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in senior event management, experiential marketing, hospitality, tourism, or a related field
  • Proven success leading high-profile events and developing strategic partnerships or sponsorship programs
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting results, and measuring ROI
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute marketing initiatives that drive event awareness and attendance
  • Exceptional relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within luxury hospitality, destination marketing, tourism, or premium consumer brands preferred
  • Degree or diploma in Event Management, Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or a related discipline preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve Fairmont Chateau Whistler’s signature events portfolio, ensuring programs remain relevant, profitable, and aligned with the resort’s luxury positioning
  • Develop and execute a long-term events strategy that balances tradition, innovation, community engagement, and guest expectations
  • Lead the full event lifecycle including concept development, planning, marketing, execution, post-event analysis, and reporting
  • Collaborate with Food & Beverage, Marketing, Revenue Management, and Operations teams to integrate events into the overall resort experience
  • Identify, secure, and manage strategic sponsorships and partnerships that elevate guest experiences and create mutual value
  • Build and maintain relationships with luxury brands, tourism organizations, community partners, and industry stakeholders
  • Position Fairmont Chateau Whistler as a premier destination for distinctive mountain experiences and high-profile partnerships
  • Develop event budgets, track financial performance, and ensure return on investment objectives are achieved
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators including revenue, guest satisfaction, attendance, media exposure, and brand impact
  • Represent Fairmont Chateau Whistler at community events, industry functions, and partnership meetings while acting as a brand ambassador for the resort
  • Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to the Director of Sales & Marketing and Executive Committee regarding event performance and partnership opportunities
  • Ensure sponsorship commitments and deliverables are executed to the highest standard and provide measurable value to partners
