About The Position

ACES is accepting applications for special education teacher candidates to fill an anticipated vacancy at Bassett Road School, in North Haven, CT. ACES Bassett Road School provides collaborative educational, emotional, and physical services to children ages 3 to 14 years with a range of cognitive, physical, behavioral, language, and medical challenges. Bassett Road School celebrates the diversity of our student population through innovative and individualized instruction. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate professional to join our team working with students who present with behavioral, social, learning, and developmental disabilities. Classrooms are intentionally designed with small group sizes of approximately 8–10 students and are supported by high staff-to-student ratios, allowing for individualized, intensive support and meaningful relationship-building. This role is ideal for candidates who bring a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of students and their families. We are looking for individuals who lead with energy, empathy, and a deep commitment to supporting the whole child while actively contributing to a collaborative, mission-driven school community.

Requirements

  • Strong teaching qualities.
  • Care deeply for children.
  • Good classroom management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • CT certification as a Special Education teacher (165) required.
  • Candidates currently enrolled in a Special Education Teacher preparation program and eligible for a Durational Shortage Area Permit (DSAP) will be considered.
