About The Position

BBX Teachers are our highest instructional tier, leading academic and STEM programs with full ownership of the student experience, from instruction design to implementation. We are seeking an energetic and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team. You will work with students with academic or physical challenges, recognizing their individual educational needs and setting them up for long-term academic success. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and dedicated to helping students reach their potential. We offer different learning models: Collaborative (5:1 ratio), Focused (1:1 ratio), and Dynamic/Adaptive for neurodiversity (1:1 ratio with emphasis on adaptations).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related field.
  • Current or Past Special education experience in the state of Texas or any other state.
  • Deep understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related disorders.
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management.
  • Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of IEP and 504 plan implementation.
  • Ability to identify and apply learning modalities in instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Identify student needs and custom education plans that align with school district IEPs.
  • Contribute to lesson planning and curriculum development.
  • Modify the educational curriculum to best meet the needs of each student.
  • Use a range of instructional methods and learning techniques.
  • Create and enforce classroom rules and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records.
  • Write and submit necessary reports.
  • Communicate with parents and school personnel.
