About The Position

This position will start August 14th, 2026. New Teacher Orientation will be held August 11th, 12th and 13th, 2026. A teaching contract is 187 days. External candidates are allowed to bring in up to 17 years of contracted K - 12 teaching experience. This position is responsible for providing direct, specially designed instruction to students in elementary school. This includes evaluation of students, writing IEPs, developing programming, collecting data and reporting progress. This posting is for internal and external teaching applicants (this also includes current BPS employees in support sta?/ temporary/substitute positions). Current contracted part-time BPS teachers wanting a full time position should also complete the external application. Applicants for teaching positions will be asked to complete the EPI Candidate Assessment. You should receive an email prompting you to complete this survey. This is timed and takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. You only need to complete the survey one time and then it will show as completed on all applications. Responsibilities

  • Communicates and interacts with students, parents, sta?, and community.
  • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of children.
  • Develops, selects, and modi?es instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
  • Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students.
  • Monitors and evaluates student outcomes.
  • Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings.
  • Maintains appropriate records and follows required procedures and practices.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Daily lesson plans are essential to an organized, e?ective teaching situation. Plans must be complete enough so that a substitute teacher can take over the class if necessary.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by the immediate supervisor.
  • Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom and on the campus in a fair and just manner.
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with other sta? members.
  • Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning complying with Bismarck Public Schools' professional growth program.
