About The Position

HealthPRO-Heritage is hiring two full-time, permanent Special Education Teacher (SPED) positions for school-based roles in Oak Hall, Virginia. One position offers an immediate start, continuing into the 2026–2027 school year, while the second position starts in the 2026–2027 school year and welcomes new graduates. The role involves working with a K–12 student population for 35 hours/week. Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education or a related field.
  • Must possess Virginia State Teaching License with appropriate endorsement to teach special education.
  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Implements the assigned program of study.
  • Develops and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Monitors student progress toward achieving instructional objectives and goals outlined in the IEPs.
  • Maintains and upgrades professional skills.
  • Teaches rules of conduct.
  • Maintains order in the classroom and on the playground when applicable.
  • Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
  • Discusses pupils’ academic and behavioral attitudes and achievements with parents.
  • Keeps attendance and grade records as required by the school.
  • Coordinates class field tips when applicable.
  • Works cooperatively with the total staff.
  • Assumes responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Assumes responsibility for maintaining a neat, safe environment and promotes positive interaction among students.
  • Encourages self-direction and self-motivation and demonstrates knowledge of the subject(s) being taught.
  • Utilizes a variety of appropriate materials and resources.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal and the Special Education Director.
