About The Position
1.0 FTE Special Education Resource Teacher needed for Milford Public Schools. The position is split .5 JFK Elementary School and .5 West Shore Middle School. This position is available for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.
Requirements
- Experience collecting student data, monitor progress toward students’ IEP goals/objectives, implementing Behavior Intervention Plans, and collaborating with District Behavior Analyst(s)
- Knowledge and understanding of CT-SEDS with regards to compliance and legal obligations
- Current CT Special Education certification (165, 065 or 265) required.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized instruction in accordance with students' Individual Education Plans
- Develop Individual Education Plans in compliance with state and federal requirements
- Conduct assessments to determine students' eligibility for special education and develop appropriate programs
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related services staff, school personnel and families to design individualized student programs
- Supervise and provide direction to paraeducators
- Communicate effectively with school staff, families, and outside providers
- Facilitate Planning and Placement Team meetings, building or department committees as assigned
- Monitor student progress and maintain data
- Ensure students receive an appropriate educational program in their least restrictive environment
