About The Position

Learn Academy in Victorville is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher with a Mild/Moderate and/or Extensive Needs credential. The FACS program serves students with Autism, potentially with coexisting Intellectual Disabilities. Classrooms utilize the STAR program and Unique Learning System for standards-based, differentiated instruction. Each classroom has a maximum of 12 students. Learn Academy is a K-12 Private Day School approved by the California Department of Education, specializing in Mild to Moderate Disabilities. The school employs a structured, school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports program focusing on Academic, Social/Emotional Problem-Solving and Strategies, with staff trained in a methodology to assist students with Positive Choice-Making. The team values collaboration, integrity, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of students and their families.

Requirements

  • Valid California Special Education Credential in Moderate to Severe Disabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must be presently eligible to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of experience working with students with emotional disabilities preferred.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth.
  • Organize and implement an individual instructional program that will result in students achieving academic success in accordance with policies.
  • Develop and implement student Individual Education Plans.
  • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences.
  • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
  • Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
  • Provide a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
