About The Position

The Special Education Instructor works under the supervision of the Head of School and the Academic Dean to provide additional learning support and instruction to students on IEPs in accordance with CECs academic philosophy, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Special Education
  • Colorado teaching license for Special Education required

  • Prior special education teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
  • Conducts assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students for the purpose of developing Individual Educational Plans (IEP).
  • Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEP's and behavior management plans.
  • Supports classroom teachers with implementing instruction and reinforcing learning skills in small and/or large groups, and/or one-on-one settings.
  • Monitors progress of students toward their IEP goals and ensuring data collection, documentation, and files are kept up-to-date.
  • Proactively schedules and leads student/family/staff IEP meetings.
  • Organizes and maintains Infinite Campus (IC) for accurate and complete recordkeeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievements, and daily attendance as required in CEC policies.
  • Promotes a safe and conducive learning environment and ensures student conduct conforms with CECs Student and Family Handbook and CEC policies.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Collaborates with other CEC staff members and participates in staff meetings and professional development as requested by the Academic Dean.
  • Other duties as assigned.
