About The Position

FSRI is seeking candidates to make a positive impact on the community by joining our non-public, special education certified school serving girls ages 13–18 with complex educational, behavioral, and therapeutic needs. Our students often come to us following previous placements through DCYF and benefit from a highly structured, trauma-informed environment focused on healing, growth, and individualized support. This role provides specialized and individualized instruction for students with significant emotional/behavioral needs as well as learning needs in a clinical residential school setting. The teacher will develop and monitor student Individual Education Programs (IEP) in accordance with Department of Education regulations and standards and works collaboratively with the management team to ensure the safety, stability, and wellbeing of residents in our care that have been placed through the Department of Children, Youth and Families. This is a full-time, 185-day position with hours from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Teaching or Education
  • RI Certification in Special Education
  • Skilled in operating various medical record software and hardware, word-processing, and database software programs
  • Excellent multitasking and communication skills a must
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team
  • Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years teaching experience preferred
  • Experience with children with behavioral/psychiatric challenges
  • Spanish Speaking preferred and is compensated
  • Bilingual/ASL skills are compensated by an additional 6%, above base pay.
  • Multilingual skills are compensated by an additional 8%, above base pay.
  • Candidates with a master’s degree will receive an additional $3,000.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency coverage; ratio to the programs as needed.
