About The Position

This position is for a Special Education Teacher focusing on LBD (Learning and Behavioral Disorders) and will be a virtual role. The teacher's primary goal is to foster students' intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation, ensuring the implementation of all aspects of students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

Requirements

Valid certification as determined by the Kentucky Department of Education, Division of Educator Licensure and Quality.

Responsibilities

Develops lesson plans and instructional materials.
Provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
Evaluates pupils’ academic and social growth, maintains records, and prepares progress reports.
Creates an effective learning environment with functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
Monitors and addresses students’ physical, emotional, and intellectual needs on an ongoing informal basis.
Implements all assigned students’ IEPs as written.
Communicates challenging scholastic expectations clearly, positively, and continuously.
Assesses learning through open-ended questions, portfolios, and performance events.
Establishes and maintains standards of mutually respectful behavior.
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
Administers group standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.
Reports to their respective classroom at least fifteen (15) minutes prior to the opening of school and remains at least fifteen (15) minutes after official closing time.
Maintains reports and records required by regulations of the Floyd County Board of Education and Kentucky Revised Statutes.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
