About The Position

SANY is seeking a Special Education Teacher for Citizenship Academy of Syracuse Jr./Sr. High school, covering Grades 6-11, for the 2026-2027 academic year. The school offers a supportive environment for both new and experienced teachers. New York State Students with Disabilities or SPED Certification is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• NYS Students with Disabilities or SPED certification required
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging lesson plans that conform to the charter's curriculum
• Collaborate with staff to determine charter's requirement for the instructional goals, objective, and methods
• Be ready to prepare students for the standardized tests relevant to the content area
• Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy
• Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning
• Appreciate regular feedback, accountability and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities
• Have great classroom management
