About The Position

Provide instruction and curriculum which implements the students IEPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education, preferably; or bachelor's degree in a related field which qualifies work with children and adolescents.
• Specific experience in the area of teaching children with a multitude of exceptionalities or at least two years of teaching experience at the appropriate level assignment (elementary/secondary).
• Teaching certificate in the State of Maryland in special education appropriate for the assignment (certificate may be a valid conditional certificate).
• Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
• Current First Aid training.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and utilize time effectively.

Nice To Haves

• Fluency in the areas of learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, and assessment.
• Certification in a special education content area is desirable.
• No record of moving violations in the past three years is preferred.
• Acknowledgement with signature to “Attestation A” of Meritus Vehicle Management Use and Control policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and curriculum which implements the students IEPs.
• Completes annual training: Education Day, CPI, BLS, First Aid and other trainings as assigned.
• Maintains required coursework for teaching certificate.
