About The Position

TheraPeds Partners is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a part-time, school-based virtual opportunity in Maine during the 2026–2027 school year. This virtual position offers the opportunity to support students across Kindergarten through 12th grade while working as part of a collaborative team committed to student growth and success. Position Details Full-time school-based opportunity with a 18-25 hour weekly schedule 2026–2027 school year (September 2026 through May 2027) Virtual assignment serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade Provide direct and indirect student services within a Life Skills classroom Provide case management and support individualized student programming Supervise and collaborate with on-site paraprofessionals and educational technicians Provide ongoing planning, guidance, and collaboration with classroom support staff Lead paraprofessional trainings to support effective implementation of student programs and strategies Participate in planning, meetings, documentation, and other responsibilities related to student services 1099 independent contractor position 3+ years of experience as a virtual SPED teacher and case manager required $44–$55+ per hour, based on experience, with estimated weekly earnings of approximately $968–$1,210+

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or higher) in Special Education
Valid Maine Special Education teaching certificate with Endorsement 282: Teacher of Children with Disabilities (Preschool–Grade 12), or eligibility for Maine certification
3+ years of experience as a virtual Special Education Teacher and Case Manager — required
Experience providing direct and indirect services to students in a Life Skills or similar specialized classroom setting
Demonstrated experience with Special Education case management, IEPs, documentation, and educational planning
Experience supervising, guiding, and collaborating with paraprofessionals and/or Educational Technicians
Experience providing training and professional guidance to classroom support staff
Strong understanding of individualized instruction and strategies for students with diverse learning needs
Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Proficient in technology and comfortable providing virtual instruction and collaboration
Ability to collaborate effectively with district staff, paraprofessionals, Educational Technicians, families, and other members of the educational team
Fingerprint/background clearance required

Responsibilities

Designing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Providing specialized instruction that meets each student's learning strengths and educational needs
Conducting educational assessments and participating in evaluation and eligibility processes
Managing assigned caseloads and maintaining compliance with special education documentation requirements
Tracking student progress and adjusting instructional strategies to maximize outcomes
Working closely with families, teachers, therapists, and administrators to coordinate services and promote student success
Maintaining a structured, inclusive classroom environment that supports learning, independence, and positive behavior
Coaching and collaborating with classroom staff to implement accommodations, modifications, and effective instructional practices
Provide direct and indirect student services within a Life Skills classroom

Supervise and collaborate with on-site paraprofessionals and educational technicians
Provide ongoing planning, guidance, and collaboration with classroom support staff
