About The Position

Rite of Passage Team is hiring for a Part-Time Special Education Teacher at The Tuscaloosa Academy for Growth and Change (TAGC) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. TAGC is a secure residential girls’ program for at-risk female youth. Through trained programming for staff, TAGC promotes a normalized high school experience, offers a safe environment, and provides opportunities for positive change, as well as providing the unlimited potential for achievement and growth for students and staff. Our campus features residential student dormitories, on-site school and library, medical, and an outdoor recreation area. We welcome ALL who are passionate about making a difference! Requirements

• Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
• Have an active teacher's certification in Special Education
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test
• Be able to pass a search of the child and adult abuse central registry
• Must meet the requirements to become an ROP eligible driver, including having a valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Work primarily with students in an educational setting delivering a curriculum of Target Teaching methodologies.
• Track student attendance.
• Maintain student grades.
• Prepare lesson plans.
• Assist as needed in the classroom setting.
• Respond to the needs of students who have a variety of ability levels.
