Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education.
  • MA Teaching certification or active progress toward certification.
  • Strong initiative, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to working effectively in a multicultural environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting students with ASD or related populations.
  • Familiarity with Daily Life Therapy® (training provided).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction across all IEP areas in partnership with special subject teachers.
  • Create innovative, differentiated lessons aligned with the BHS curriculum and MA Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Develop and implement goals in the areas of academics, behavior, daily living skills, and social development.
  • Present student progress to families and districts during IEP meetings.
  • Write comprehensive annual educational assessments grounded in daily observations and interactions.
  • Maintain individualized portfolios aligned with curriculum standards and IEP objectives.
  • Prepare alternative assessment portfolios for students participating in MCAS-Alt.
  • Complete quarterly progress reports.
  • Participate in all student activities, including physical exercise, movement-based lessons, and daily fitness routines (lifting, standing, squatting, jogging 1–3 miles).
  • Model enthusiasm, motivation, and positive engagement during lessons and activities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians through notebooks, calls, conferences, and reports.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with residential staff and collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Attend division meetings, trainings, in-services, school events, and committee assignments.
  • Uphold professionalism, confidentiality, and clear communication at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors and program leadership.
