Special Education Teacher, Broadstep Behavioral Health 1099 Independent Contractor Venice Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) Simpsonville, SC Make a Difference Where Education Changes Lives. Are you a passionate Special Education Teacher looking for an opportunity to make a lasting impact beyond the traditional classroom? At Broadstep, you'll help children and adolescents with emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges continue their educational journey while receiving psychiatric treatment. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you'll provide individualized instruction in a structured, trauma-informed environment where education plays a critical role in each student's treatment and long-term success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid South Carolina Special Education teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and special education regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of teaching experience.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with emotional or behavioral disorders, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or other special education needs.
  • Experience in therapeutic, residential treatment, behavioral health, or alternative education settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and South Carolina educational standards.
  • Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to meet each student's unique academic, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Coordinate online educational course work while ensuring all required accommodations and support is provided.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and annual review of student IEPs.
  • Foster a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment using trauma-informed practices and positive behavioral interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, nursing staff, behavioral health professionals, and facility leadership to support student success.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate educational documentation and compliance records.
  • Communicate effectively with families, school districts, and treatment team members regarding educational progress and transition planning.
