Objective - Provide instruction and curriculum which implements the students IEPs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education, preferably; or bachelor's degree in a related field which qualifies work with children and adolescents.
Specific experience in the area of teaching children with a multitude of exceptionalities or at least two years of teaching experience at the appropriate level assignment (elementary/secondary).
Teaching certificate in the State of Maryland in special education appropriate for the assignment (certificate may be a valid conditional certificate).
Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy.
Current First Aid training.
Valid Driver’s License.
A driving record as required by law for vehicle expected to operate.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and utilize time effectively.
Nice To Haves
Fluency in the areas of learning theory, differentiated instruction, developmental reading, and assessment.
Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
Certification in a special education content area is desirable.
No record of moving violations in the past three years is preferred.
Certified copy of driving record is required to be provided by team member annually on date of birth.
Acknowledgement with signature to “Attestation A” of Meritus Vehicle Management Use and Control policy.
Responsibilities

Completes annual training: Education Day, CPI, BLS, First Aid and other trainings as assigned.
Maintains required coursework for teaching certificate
