Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring for a creative and supportive individual to work in our Wayside Academy! We provide a supportive culture that is team-focused and places value on healthy work dynamics. This role involves implementing curricula according to MA State Curriculum Frameworks and Common Core Standards in a Chapter 766 approved school for students in grades 6-12. The position is responsible for providing challenging, motivating, and relevant learning experiences in a 220-day setting. Teachers will teach classes using various methods and materials to suit the topic, IEP, and/or learning style, employing differentiated instructional strategies to meet the needs of all students, including integrating technology into lesson planning. The role also involves providing a learning environment that is physically safe and intellectually open, in keeping with special education best practices, and modeling the school’s academic and social expectations. Responsibilities include attending department meetings and relevant school and professional events/meetings, maintaining first aid, CPR, and TCI certification through provided trainings, and ensuring compliance with program and agency policies, standards, and protocols. Additionally, the role requires delivering structured lessons and activities for assigned class periods, providing individualized intervention and accommodation when necessary, participating in assessment practices, assisting in or developing IEPs, participating in teacher and staff meetings, and establishing and maintaining open communication with parents and guardians. Completing all associated documentation regarding student progress and grading, and maintaining a current license in moderate disabilities and curriculum area are also key aspects of this position.
