About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher in Chittenden County to collaborate with classroom teachers and clinical staff in planning and implementing academic, social, and behavioral programming tailored to each student's unique needs. In this role, you will help coordinate education and mental health treatments, serving as a primary point of person for public school partners regarding IEPs, evaluations, and overall case management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Active Vermont Teaching License in Special Education.
• Background in Special Education, specifically supporting students with significant social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
• Proficient in IEP development, administering/interpreting assessments, and adapting instructional materials.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to plan curriculum, adapt materials, and develop academic and environmental accommodations for both individual and classroom settings.
• Lead the development, implementation, and facilitation of IEPs, trimester reviews, and evaluation planning meetings to support special education eligibility and student progress.
• Mentor classroom teachers on differentiated instruction while building strong, therapeutic relationships with students to foster problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Utilize informal assessments and diagnostic teaching to monitor student growth and facilitate smooth integration into public school settings.
• Create safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning spaces that engage students in meaningful academic and social interactions.
