About The Position

The Special Education Middle School Teacher is a KIPP Minnesota Team member responsible for directly leading instruction with students. This role involves co-teaching with a general education teacher in an inclusion or resource classroom setting to support all students and lead small group instructional spaces. The teacher will plan daily lessons that lead to high levels of student achievement and contribute to building and supporting a school-wide culture of excellence.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching
  • Minnesota state certification in teaching appropriate subject areas (K-6 Special Education Elementary Education). Applicants who will hold the following credentials by August 31st of each school year are welcome to apply. We will work with applicants whose license is in process.

  • Experience with using technology in teaching and learning

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color
  • Minimum three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
  • Experience writing IEPs (will train)

Responsibilities

  • Implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus
  • Create and teach challenging and engaging lessons aligned to state standards
  • Assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping
  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents
  • Create a classroom environment that is warm and demanding and expects 100% of students to meet expectations
  • Maintain a neat, clean classroom environment and a professional personal appearance
  • Work to ensure that all IEPs and student needs are met both within and outside of the classroom
  • Manage a student caseload
  • Perform morning, lunch and afternoon duties as assigned and attend all staff meetings
  • Use data to drive instructional practices to constantly improve student achievement and instruction, with support from school leaders
  • Seek to constantly develop and improve teaching practices through ongoing feedback conversations with School Leaders and other school faculty within KIPP Minnesota
