About The Position

King David Kalakaua Middle School is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will lead a Fully Self-Contained classroom, creating a safe, supportive, and structured environment where students with a variety of diverse learning needs can thrive. In addition to teaching, you will serve as the care coordinator for your students, working closely alongside a dedicated team of professionals to develop and implement comprehensive IEPs that set our students up for success.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree.
Valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit upon hire.
Enrollment in a program to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license if hired without one.
Satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements each year of employment.
Plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings.
Exercise independent and professional judgment in carrying out daily functions.
Maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines.
Grasp new concepts quickly and apply them effectively.
Work effectively with others.

Nice To Haves

Valid Special Education Mild/Moderate license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
Special education mild/moderate classroom experience in a K-12 school setting.
