The Special Education RISE Program Teacher reports directly to the Director of Special Education, Special Education Coordinator, and Principal of the School, and is expected to work closely with all school personnel. This role involves creating a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment for students with Moderate to Severe Autism Spectrum and Communication Disorders. The teacher will provide individual and small group instruction, support students in maintaining safe behaviors, run Discrete Trial Training programs, and implement behavior support plans. Additionally, the role includes supporting students with communication challenges, designing curriculum modifications, instructing students in daily living activities, evaluating student progress, chairing IEP meetings, writing IEPs, and preparing MCAS Alternative Assessment Portfolios. The position also requires participation in professional development, collaborative consultation with special education teams, maintaining student records, communicating with parents, and overseeing paraprofessional staff.
