About The Position

Kenosha School of Technology Enhanced Curriculum (KTEC) is a public charter school seeking dedicated individuals to establish its foundation. KTEC focuses on preparing students for post-secondary education and the workforce by equipping them with industry-aligned certifications. The school aims to empower students with strong character, collective societal understanding, and a career-focused mindset. This role involves supporting and teaching students in grades 4K-12, managing a special education caseload, and providing flexible, timely instruction to foster student learning and individual growth. The ideal candidate will motivate students to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a solid future foundation. Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated knowledge of competency-based learning and its application within special instruction and goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education.
  • A current Teaching License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
  • Evidence of competencies in classroom management, learning strategies, individual and group management, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
  • Model the core values of the school.
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to collaborate with industry-connected, project-based learning, and provide a student-centered education.
  • A growth mindset and ability to reflect and vary instructional delivery model.
  • Strong belief that an inclusive learning environment offers a more productive and personalized way of educating all students.
  • Ability to deliver instruction incorporating workshops, immersion, hands-on experiences, and traditional delivery to ensure that all individual student needs are met in accordance with preferred mode of instruction.
  • The ability to work effectively with groups and individuals.
  • Demonstrate skill in organizing ideas and presenting them with clarity and conciseness.
  • Creative and imaginative approach to problem-solving and demonstrated ability to think outside of the box.
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction.
  • Self-starter and a well-developed ability to set and meet goals and outcomes.
  • Knowledge of competency-based learning
  • Ability to write and report about student IEP plans.

  • Seek and use feedback to ensure personal growth, continuous improvement, and innovation, with a focus on special education pedagogy.
  • Utilize active listening, assume best intentions, and take other perspectives, particularly in understanding the unique challenges faced by students with disabilities.
  • Serve as an active member of the assigned professional learning community, contributing insights and strategies for supporting students with disabilities.
  • Perform all aspects of classroom management, preparation, and implementation of current teaching strategies, emphasizing differentiation and scaffolding to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Effectively engage students, their families, and colleagues through great interpersonal communication skills, fostering an inclusive community for students with disabilities.
  • Organize and participate in special activities for students, ensuring these activities are accessible and engaging for students with disabilities.
  • Design, deliver, and assess nature-based, inquiry-based, and project-based learning; effectively integrate content standards while considering the language acquisition and proficiency levels of students with disabilities.
