About The Position

The Autistic Support (AS) Teacher provides specialized instruction through individualized programming to empower students to become happy, confident, and productive members of their community. The position is with Merakey School at Hampden Township School in Enola, Pennsylvania. AS classrooms maintain a teacher-to-student ratio no greater than 1:8. The school follows a traditional 10-month school year, with paid summers off; additional hours and compensation are available for Extended School Year (ESY).

Requirements

Must possess a Pennsylvania Special Education certificate, or Pennsylvania Private Academic certification with the ability to attain public certification within one year from date of hire.

Responsibilities

Design, supervise, and implement students’ IEP plans.
Create and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education.
Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate services.
Participate in ongoing staff development focused on best practices for supporting students with Autism needs.
Implement evidence-based, state-of-the-art strategies to support students in AS programs.
