About The Position

Piscataway Regional Day School is seeking a part-time Special Education Teacher for their Public School for Students with Multiple Disabilities. This position is for 60% FTE, working 3.75 hours per day from 11:30 am to 3:15 pm, over a ten-month period. The role involves providing instructional services to assigned students, including needs analysis, scheduling, developing and implementing individual educational plans, preparing progress reports, and conducting parent/guardian conferences. The teacher will also coordinate and communicate student progress with administrators, parents, and district staff. Responsibilities include demonstrating various teaching strategies, maintaining positive classroom management, and upholding professional competence and confidentiality. The position requires adherence to administrative directives, procedures, regulations, and Board Policies, with teaching assignments potentially changing based on referral systems and legal mandates. Additional duties may be assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

Requirements

  • Classroom experience with Pre-vocational, Community Based Instruction, job coach preferred.
  • DOE TOSD/TOH Certificate.
  • New Jersey State Department of Education Certification.
  • Other qualifications the Board may find appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional services to assigned students, including analysis and assessment of student needs.
  • Schedule assigned students.
  • Develop and implement individual student educational plans (IEPs/ISIPs).
  • Prepare written student progress reports as required.
  • Provide parent/guardian conferences as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate student progress to program administrators, nonpublic school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and sending resident district staff.
  • Demonstrate a variety of teaching strategies in relation to student learning styles.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport and management in the classroom to enhance student behavior according to district policy and existing laws.
  • Maintain professional competence, confidentiality, and demonstrate a willingness to improve performance.
  • Participate in curriculum programs to enhance student learning.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.
