About The Position

Genesee Lake School is seeking a Special Education Teacher for their Day School Intensive Classroom. Genesee Lake School (GLS) is a therapeutic day school and residential treatment center for children and young adults with Autism and neurological, emotional, and/or developmental disabilities. The school is located on a 160-acre campus near Oconomowoc and follows a 180-day school calendar with an option for Extended School Year programming. The Intensive Classroom provides a highly structured, therapeutically/behaviorally advanced setting for students.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in special education.
Certified by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in special education.
Three years of teaching experience.
Strong interest in applied behavior analysis (ABA) and a commitment to working with individuals with disabilities.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience supporting children, adolescents and/or young adults diagnosed with emotional, mental health, neurological and/or developmental disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to integrate Positive Behavior Support (PBS) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in residential or educational settings.
Completion of additional training within 4 months of starting position.

Nice To Haves

Interest in continued education and professional growth within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis, including potential pursuit of a Master’s level ABA program aligned with BACB Fieldwork requirements.
Participation in supervised fieldwork toward BCBA certification is preferred when mutually agreed upon by the employee and supervisor and aligned with organizational needs.

Responsibilities

Develop and provide specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities.
Evaluate and assess student progress.
Act as a leader within the classroom and school environment.
Ensure all special education documentation and services are in compliance with special education legal requirements.
Review records of incoming students and prepare them for classroom inclusion.
Develop and track IEP goals, and collaborate with stakeholders in IEP completion.
Complete and submit necessary paperwork, lesson plans, instructional data, behavior data, and weekly summaries by assigned deadlines.
Work as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating and consulting with therapists, TSS’s, BCBA’s, case coordinators, SLPs, OTs, medical staff, education, program staff, and families.
Champion the use of behavioral and intensive therapeutic interventions and strategies across programs.
Provide classroom orientation to classroom support staff.
Contribute to formal Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and applicable clinical assessments to inform behavior plans.
Support the development of Additional Support Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans by contributing advanced analysis, function-based strategies, and data interpretation.
Model behavioral strategies in real time by working directly with students, coaching staff, demonstrating best practices, and building staff confidence.
Contribute expertise to the development of processes, tools, resources, and fidelity checks to advance the application of Positive Behavior Supports.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure implementation of PBIS practices and social–emotional skill instruction by modeling, coaching, and monitoring adherence to proactive instructional routines and positive behavior supports.
Analyze behavioral data collection systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper tracking of student progress, providing feedback and recommendations.
Contribute to the development of crisis-intervention protocols.
Assist in training of staff on proactive and reactive strategies (e.g., de-escalation, reinforcement schedules, functional communication training).
Collaborate across MyPath companies to share expertise, exchange resources, and align therapeutic practices.
Assist in delivering advanced training and professional development to improve staff competencies.
