EBD Special Education Teacher - (WEC)
About The Position
Intermediate District 287 is seeking Special Education Teachers licensed in Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) for the High School program at our West Education Center in Minnetonka. The district serves students in grades K-12 and transition-age students (18-22) from 12 member districts in the west metro area. Intermediate District 287 offers a variety of services and specialized programs, primarily focused on Setting IV special education, to meet the diverse needs of its students. The district emphasizes a trauma-informed approach, comprehensive support services with dedicated teams (School Social Workers, Psychologists, Counselors, Behavior Intervention Specialists, Student Safety Coaches), small class sizes (average of 6-8 students), and a commitment to diversity by hiring and retaining racially diverse and conscious staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Current teaching license in EBD OR a valid license in another subject area & willing to get an Out of Field license in EBD.
- Interested in candidates who are diverse, bilingual, or have experience working with diverse populations.
Nice To Haves
- Professional experience in the culinary, hospitality, or food service industry, preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach students with EBD in a high school program.
- Provide individualized care and attention in small class settings.
- Collaborate with a dedicated team of support staff including School Social Workers, Psychologists, Counselors, Behavior Intervention Specialists, and Student Safety Coaches.
- Implement a trauma-informed approach in the classroom.
- Support student success and build meaningful relationships.
