About The Position

The job of Special Education Teacher is done for the purpose of facilitating Special Education student success in the least restrictive environment in the areas of academics, behavior regulation, interpersonal/social skills, self-management, and activities of daily living through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing specific needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, and to ensure access to general education curriculum and non-disabled peers to the greatest extent possible. A primary focus is the establishment of a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students while considering the background and developmental level of the individual student. This teacher will work collaboratively with general education teachers, special educators, administration, Speech and Language Pathologist, Other Related Service Providers, Psychologist, and paraprofessionals to provide appropriate services and supports to meet the myriad of student needs.
