About The Position

This is a leave replacement position for a Special Education Teacher at Sunnyslope Elementary, serving students in grades K-5 with learning disabilities in the resource room. The role involves writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), providing individualized programming, conducting academic assessments, reporting on student progress, and communicating with parents. The teacher will also participate in relevant activities, support programs, attend district in-service education programs, and participate in MDT, building, and district meetings and conferences as required. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Washington state teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement preferred
• Experience with writing and following the IEP
• Experience helping general education staff to design and implement differentiated programming in core content areas
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Ability to supervise the placement of special education classified staff that support the program
• Knowledge of Special Education rules (state and federal)
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Positive attitude
• Proven ability for organization and meeting timelines
• Attendance and punctuality are important functions for this position
• May require prolonged sitting or standing
• Must complete an INS I-9 form and provide proof of employment eligibility
• Must complete a disclosure form indicating whether he or she has been convicted of crimes against persons
• Background check based on fingerprints will be requested from the Washington State Patrol & FBI
