About The Position

Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Special Educator / Transition Specialist to support students with disabilities in developing academic, career, vocational, and independent living skills. This full-time position combines special education instruction and case management with transition and career-focused support. Satisfactory CORI, SORI, and SAFIS required. Moderate Disabilities licensure required (5-12). Transition Specialist endorsement preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and academic support to students with disabilities.
• Support students during Academic Support Blocks and provide targeted academic interventions.
• Manage an assigned caseload of students with disabilities, including developing and monitoring individualized education programs (IEPs).
• Conduct and support transition and vocational assessments to identify students' strengths, interests, skills, and career goals.
• Assist students in exploring career pathways and identifying employment, training, and post-secondary opportunities.
• Provide job-readiness instruction, coaching, and individualized support.
• Support students in school-based vocational and career-related experiences.
• Collaborate with CTAE instructors to integrate special education supports and career-readiness goals into vocational programming.
• Assist students in developing workplace skills, including communication, professionalism, problem-solving, and self-advocacy.
• Establish relationships with community employers, training programs, and other agencies to expand career and transition opportunities for students.
• Collaborate with families, educators, related service providers, and community partners to support student success.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all applicable special education requirements and district procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or their designee.
